| We are experimenting with the use of weeder geese to help control weed growth at an 80 acre citrus ranch which is transitioning to organic management. Instead of using post-emergent herbicide they use tractor mowers and weedwackers. Weed control is a major time and money consumer for the organic farmer. The CRA is currently experimenting with a small flock of brown Chinese geese in a movable electrified coral. These photos show before and after shots of geese weeding around citrus.
